This site aims to provide you with detailed information about the various investments ASX has available for trading. The purpose of this page is to provide you with general information about our site and to help you resolve some common issues that may be experienced whilst browsing.

Security in MyASX

To help keep your information secure, MyASX uses SSL and encryption. SSL (Secure Socket Layer) is a protocol that provides encrypted and secure communications on the Internet and ensures that private information such as login, registration and watchlists details are not sent over the Internet in clear text.

SSL encrypted pages are identifiable by "https" URLs and a padlock which appears in the bottom right hand corner of the browser status bar. Clicking on the padlock will allow you to view details of our SSL certificate.

Updating your MyASX password, if requested to, will ensure that it is encrypted and compatible with this level of protection.

As you navigate MyASX, you may receive certain browser messages . An alert message may appear when you move between secure and non-secure pages and also when you submit details via a form over the Internet. These messages can generally be avoided in the future, by checking the box to not show the warning again. You may view the MyASX pages without choosing this option by selecting yes or OK to the messages. If you select no however, the page will not display.

You may also receive a message regarding a page containing secure and nonsecure items. This message is generally displayed if you are navigating pages outside MyASX when you’re still in SSL mode (i.e. https URLs). This shouldn’t occur, but if it does, simply remove the “s” from the URL and you will be able to navigate without issues.

Account suspension
After 5 failed login attempts your MyASX account will be suspended for 10 minutes. During this time, you will be unable to login to your account. Even if you reset your password, your account will continue to be suspended. Your account details will not be altered in any way. Once the time period has elapsed you will be able to login to your MyASX account as normal.

Accessibility

This site can be view in any modern Internet browser. Internet Explorer version 6 can be downloaded for free from the Microsoft website. Alternatively, we may wish to use Mozilla Firefox which is a fast, safe and feature-rich browser.

We recommend you set your screen resolution to 1024 by 768 pixels resolution with 16-bit colour depth.

Colours

This site is designed to be viewed with your display set to at least 256 colours. It is, however, best seen with thousands or millions of colours.

Policy on information available

ASX sells information (such as live share prices, company announcements and detailed historical records) to information providers. ASX believes that it is the role of the information providers to supply this information to the public. The ASX website communicates as much information as possible without conflicting with the businesses of information providers. A list of information vendors is available from the ASX Information Source Guide.

ASX company announcement information is available in near real-time whilst all price information on the site is delayed by at least 20 minutes.

Viewing up-to-date content

Whenever you access a page on a website it downloads to your cache. The reason being, if you frequently access a number of web pages, after the first download, page elements such as images will already be in your browser’s cache (like memory) and so the page will be faster to download next time. However, problems may occur when your browser reads and displays an older version of a page from the cache rather the requesting the latest content from our server. As such, if you notice that the content of a page on our site appears to be out of date, please refresh, clear your cache and try accessing again.

Clearing your cache

To ensure that you are viewing the most up-to-date content on our site you may need to clear your cache. Different browsers have different ways to perform this function. Instructions for Internet Explorer 6 are below. For more information about the cache please see viewing up to date content.

  • In your browser select "Tools" then "Internet Options"
  • Under the "General" tab select "Delete Files" from the second option "Temporary Internet Files"
  • Select "OK", then select "OK" again.
  • Press "refresh" again.

Viewing PDF files using Adobe Acrobat Reader

To view PDF files on any site, you will need a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader. This can be downloaded for free at the Adobe website.

A PDF download is generally denoted by the letters PDF next to the PDF link. Where possible we also provide a file size in KB next to the download to allow you to estimate how long this file may take to download.

Please note: Many of the PDF files on our site have been created using the latest version of Adobe. The colours in such a PDF file may be distorted when viewed by an older version of the Adobe Acrobat reader. If this occurs, we suggest that you download a copy of the latest version of the reader.

Viewing Windows Media files using Windows Media Player

To view Windows Media files on any site, you will need a copy of Windows Media Player. This can be downloaded for free at the Microsoft website.

Microsoft provides Windows Media Player for free, with versions for Windows 95 - XP, and Apple Macintosh.

Viewing audio visual presentations using Macromedia Flash Player

To view the audio visual presentations on the site you will need to have a copy of Macromedia Flash Player installed on your computer. This can be downloaded for free from the Macromedia website.

Accessing prices

After you have searched for a share price, occasionally the results pop-up window comes up behind your original browser window. To correct, minimise your original browser and you should find the pop-up window behind as requested.

Printing pages (including pop-up windows)

Most pages on this site include a 'Print page' iconprint icon. Clicking this icon will launch your print dialog box from which you can modify your print settings and then print the page.

For best printing results, you may need to set your pages to print in  "landscape" format. This should only be necessary on pages with wide tables of data such as the Price results pages.

Displaying charts and other images

Occasionally, the share price charts may appear to be "cut off". This is a problem with rendering on the screen and with a PC not having enough power to display the chart. To fix this, minimise the browser and then maximise it again (do not refresh). This may also be a problem for displaying other images on our site.
