AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND BANKING GROUP LI 2000-04-18 ASX-SIGNAL-G HOMEX - Melbourne +++++++++++++++++++++++++ ANZ today announced the appointment of Mr Bruce Bonyhady as Chief Investment Officer, ANZ Funds Management and Insurance. Mr Bonyhady will join ANZ after a senior position with BT Funds Management where he was Executive Vice President and Head of International. Prior to that he held a number of senior roles with National Mutual including Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer for their European funds management operations and Chief Economist for National Mutual Funds Management. Mr Bonyhady will be responsible for managing ANZ's investment and asset management businesses. ANZ Managing Director Funds Management and Insurance, Mr James MacKenzie said the investment management business is strategically important to ANZ and we need to clearly focus on growing this business by continuing to achieve superior and sustainable performance that is recognised by both asset consultants and research houses. "Bruce will focus on corporate markets and building market share by leveraging ANZ's existing strong customer relationships, as well as marketing to other third party clients. "He is a great addition to the management team and I am delighted that someone with his reputation, experience and ability has agreed to join us," he said. Mr Bonyhady reports to Mr MacKenzie, with the appointment effective from today. ANZ also announced today the departure of Mr Ross Chessari, Managing Director ANZ Asset Management who has left ANZ to pursue other opportunities.
