ANZ today announced its inaugural issue of mortgage backed securities
collateralised by housing loans owned by the Bank.

This issue of A$400 million will comprise both senior and junior
notes, expected to be rated AAA and AA- respectively by Standard and
Poor's. The securitisation vehicle to be used will be Kingfisher
Securitisation Pty Ltd.

ANZ Chief Financial Officer, Mr Peter Marriott said the development
of a securitisation capability was a significant milestone for ANZ.

"Securitisation is viewed as an important funding diversity and
capital efficiency tool," Mr Marriott said.

Further issues, including accessing offshore markets, are envisaged
as part of ANZ's integrated balance sheet management and funding
strategy.

The transaction will be lead managed by ANZ Investment Bank. Deutsche
Bank AG and Macquarie Bank Limited have been appointed co-managers.
