AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND BANKING GROUP LI 2000-12-05 ASX-SIGNAL-G HOMEX - Melbourne +++++++++++++++++++++++++ MEDIA RELEASE ANZ today announced it had signed an agreement with US-based Currenex to join its multi-bank exchange, FXtrades. ANZ, together with 25 other banks, will provide liquidity to Currenex's foreign exchange trading service through its internet-based service, FXtrades. The service is a real-time foreign exchange marketplace providing a total trading solution from initiation and execution to settlement and reporting. ANZ Global Head of Foreign Exchange Mr Chris Cooper said the decision to join Currenex was in line with ANZ's strategy to provide customers with a complete range of electronic execution applications for foreign exchange products and services. Currenex provides the first operational global currency exchange open to institutional buyers and sellers worldwide. Currenex Chief Executive Officer Lori Mirek said: "We are delighted to announce the addition of ANZ to our expanding global network of FX liquidity providers. Its decision to join our FXtrades service confirms our strategy to provide corporations and banks worldwide with an independent, open-exchange that utilises efficiencies offered by the internet."
