MEDIA RELEASE

ANZ today announced it had signed an agreement with US-based Currenex
to join its multi-bank exchange, FXtrades.

ANZ, together with 25 other banks, will provide liquidity to
Currenex's foreign exchange trading service through its
internet-based service, FXtrades. The service is a real-time foreign
exchange marketplace providing a total trading solution from
initiation and execution to settlement and reporting.

ANZ Global Head of Foreign Exchange Mr Chris Cooper said the decision
to join Currenex was in line with ANZ's strategy to provide customers
with a complete range of electronic execution applications for
foreign exchange products and services.

Currenex provides the first operational global currency exchange open
to institutional buyers and sellers worldwide.

Currenex Chief Executive Officer Lori Mirek said: "We are delighted
to announce the addition of ANZ to our expanding global network of FX
liquidity providers. Its decision to join our FXtrades service
confirms our strategy to provide corporations and banks worldwide
with an independent, open-exchange that utilises efficiencies offered
by the internet."
