ANZ today announced that it had brought its stake in St George Bank
Limited from 4.9% to 5.0%.

The announcement follows confirmation earlier this week that ANZ had
a 4.9% shareholding in St George.

Under the Corporations Law the 5.0% holding requires formal
notification to the Australian Stock Exchange.
