AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND BANKING GROUP 2001-05-22 ASX-SIGNAL-G HOMEX - Melbourne +++++++++++++++++++++++++ MEDIA RELEASE Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ) today announced pricing set in New York overnight and in Melbourne for its inaugural global mortgage backed securities transaction through the Kingfisher Trust 2001-1G. ANZ through the Kingfisher Trust 2001-1G is offering US$1.0 billion of Class A Notes to predominantly US and European investors rated AAA/Aaa/AAA by Standard & Poor's, Moody's Investors Service and Fitch Inc respectively. The Class A Notes have a weighted average life of 3.21 years and a note rate of 18 basis points over 3 month LIBOR. The Kingfisher Trust 2001-1G represents the largest Australian MBS transaction by ANZ and marks the beginning of its global MBS funding program. Salomon Smith Barney is the lead manager for the Class A Notes with ANZ, Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley Dean Witter as co-managers. The Kingfisher Trust 2001-1G also includes the issuance of A$41.5 million Class B Notes rated AA-/AA- by Standard & Poor's and Fitch Inc respectively. The pricing on the Class B Notes is undisclosed. ANZ Group Treasurer Mr Rick Sawers said: "This is our first Global MBS transaction from the Kingfisher program and we plan to be regular visitors to the global markets. The issue is a significant step in our global funding diversification plans".
