MEDIA RELEASE       

ANZ today announced that Mr Roger Davis regrettably would be leaving
the Group in January 2003 to pursue his career externally.

Mr Davis joined ANZ in October 1999 as Group Managing Director,
Corporate Financial Services before taking up his present role as
Group Managing Director, Customer Origination.

ANZ Chief Executive Officer, Mr John McFarlane said: "I would like to
extend my personal thanks to Roger for his contribution to ANZ."

"Roger has overseen the Corporate Financial Services business through
a period of significant change and more recently extended the Group's
focus on putting customers first by leading senior contact with our
largest corporate and institutional customers worldwide. We wish him
well in the future," Mr McFarlane said.
