ANZ today announced that David Boyles, the Group's Chief Operations
Officer had given notice of his intention to retire early next year.

Mr Boyles joined ANZ from the United States in January 1998 as Chief
Information Officer. In his current role he manages ANZ's shared
technology, operations and services platforms.

After five years at ANZ, Mr Boyles plans to remain in Australia and
intends to spend more time with his family while developing his
interest in venturing and fostering small technology companies part
time.

ANZ Chief Executive Officer Mr John McFarlane said: "Given the
extended notice, we will take the time to identify a world-class
replacement and David will work with us to effect a smooth
transition.

"In his five years with us, David has been the driving force behind
ANZ's eTransformation agenda and has played a pivotal role in our
success as a member of the leadership team.

"Although there is some time before David leaves us, I would like to
extend my gratitude to David for his significant contribution to
ANZ," Mr McFarlane said.
