ASX MARKET RELEASE

Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited have established an
Australian Dollar Debt Issuance Programme and have announced the
issue of $1,500,000,1000 Tranferable Certificates of Deposit ("TCD").

Official quotation of the following securities will commence on
Monday 12 May 2003.

* A$900,000,000 5% Transferable Certificates of Deposit maturing 12
May 2008 
ASX Code: ANZHA, ISIN: AU00000ANZHA6

* A$600,000,000 Floating Rate Transferable Certificate of Deposit
maturing 12 May 2008 
ASX Code: ANZHB, ISIN: AU0000ANZHB4

The minimum trading consideration for the TCDs is A$500,000 and
thereafter increments of A$1,000 face value. The TCDs are quoted on
ASX's Wholesale Loan Securities Bulletin Board and currently not
eligible to be settled in CHESS.
