ASX Clear (Futures) Option Treatment

At Expiry, all Options listed on ASX 24 will either exercise or abandon.  With the exception of d-cypha Electricity Strip options1 and One Sessions Options2,  this process will occur automatically.

IN THE MONEY options will automatically exercise and the holder will receive the respective position in the underlying Futures contract.

AT THE MONEY and OUT OF THE MONEY options will automatically abandon.

The ASX Clear (Futures) Clearing System (OM Secur) gives Participants the ability to abandon IN THE MONEY options, and exercise AT THE MONEY or OUT OF THE MONEY options.

Participants have until 20 minutes after the close of trading on any given day and until the time of expiry of the contract on the Final Trading Day to lodge an Exercise or Abandonment request.

1 d-cypha Electricity Calendar Year Strip and Peak options and NZ Electricity Options are subject to manual exercise request only.

2 ASX 24 offers One Session Options for trading on either the Overnight session (OverNight Options) or the Day Session (IntraDay Options).  At expiry, only IN THE MONEY options are exercised.  All other options are automatically abandoned.
