2008 Australian Share Ownership StudyApproximately 41% of adult Australians own shares, according to the 2008 Australian Share Ownership Study (PDF 1.44MB), released by ASX on 23 June 2009. The Study offers insights into the attitudes, knowledge and behaviour of retail share market investors in Australia in late 2008, a time of significant market volatility. Short selling updateOn 25 May 2009, ASIC removed the ban on covered short selling of financial securities. ASX Trading Participants must report their daily gross short sales (PDF 31KB) to ASX and ASX makes available a daily gross short sale report (TXT 23KB).
