Emissions Trading

What is Emissions Trading?

Emissions Trading is a market-based mechanism for reducing or offsetting carbon emissions. To support and service the Kyoto Protocol's Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and the Australian Government's proposed Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS), ASX will initially list futures and options contracts on Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) and Australian Emissions Units (AEUs).

Why trade emissions?

ASX CER and AEU Futures and Options will provide a robust mechanism for companies that have an interest in or exposure to the CDM and proposed CPRS to manage their forward price and counterparty credit exposures.
