ASX Austraclear Limited: Registered Security Issue Requirements

ASX Austraclear provides underlying infrastructure and services to cater to the requirements of domestically issued Australian dollar registered securities. The combination of system functionality and operations support covers issue set up, issue maintenance and corporate action services for registered securities lodged in Austraclear. This allows for seamless transfer of beneficial ownership of the securities between seller and buyer and Real Time Gross Settlement of coupon, redemption and maturity payments.

Acceptable securities:

ASX Austraclear accepts a broad range of $A-denominated securities for lodgement, including:

  • Commercial paper - (uncertificated and certificated)
    • Short Term Notes (STNs)
    • Registered Commercial paper
    • Registered Notes
    • Electronic Certificates of Deposit
    • Electronic Promisory Notes
    • Electronic Bank accepted Bills of Exchange
    • Commercial Bills
  • Registered Securities
    • Medium-Term Notes (MTNs) both fixed coupon and floating rate
    • Mortgage Backed Securities
    • CPI linked Bonds
    • Commonwealth Government Securities
    • Semi-Government Securities

Participant status within the Austraclear System is not a prerequisite for lodgement of securities; however, in those circumstances where the issuer is not a Participant, the issuer must nominate an Austraclear Participant to operare a bank account on behalf of the issuer for the distribution of coupon and maturity proceeds.

Once an issue is established in the Austraclear System, Uplifts of the relevant securities are permitted only in limited circumstances.
