Participant classes
There are four classes of Austraclear Participant available:

Full participants have access to the complete range of ASX Austraclear products and services and are able to transact with all other participant classes.
Key features of FULL Participant status:
- Access to the complete range of ASX Austraclear products and services to perform transactions with any other participant class.
- Multiple branch accounts* allow portfolios to be structured within individual branch accounts e.g. for different areas of the business.
- Multiple sub accounts allow the separation of holdings if stock is required to be held in safe custody etc.
- Pre-approval granted at application for the depositing of all acceptable securities determined by the Operating Rules (link to Op Rules)
* Branch and sub-accounts attract additional fees.
2. Associate Participant
Associate participants are able to perform many of the same functions as a Full Participant however they can only deal with Full Participants. Associate participants are limited to a single Austraclear account.
Key features of ASSOCIATE Participant Status:
- Access to the complete range of ASX Austraclear products and services to perform transactions with any Full Participant.
- Provides a cost effective way of transacting with your bank or any other Full Participant.
- Only one sub-branch and sub-account can be operated.
3. Special Purpose Participant
Available categories of Special Purpose Participants are set out in the Austraclear System Regulations and prescribed by ASX Austraclear.
Currently Special Purpose Electricity Participants are able to pay and receive cash transfer transactions between other Electricity Participants and their appropriate central operator e.g. National Electricity Market Management Company Limited (NEMMCO).
Public Trust Participants are able to perform the same functions as a Full Participant; however these transactions must be performed on behalf of a Nominated Trust.
Public Trust Participants must be the responsible entity of a registered managed investment scheme or be a company authorised by statute to act as a trustee.
Key features of PUBLIC TRUST Participant Status:
- Access to the complete range of ASX Austraclear products and services to perform transactions on behalf of a nominated trust.
- Multiple branch accounts* allow portfolios to be structured within individual branch accounts e.g. for different areas of the business.
- Multiple sub accounts (free of charge) allow the separation of holdings if stock is required to be held in safe custody etc.
