Audio Visual presentations

ASX has created a series of audio visual presentations to help you understand various sharemarket topics.  They run for a few minutes each and look at the fundamentals of the market and the role of each market participant.

What is the stock market?

The stock market is where the buying and selling of company shares takes place. In Australia these transactions take place through the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). This presentation provides an overview and history of the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) as well as the basics of investing in companies listed on the exchange.

What is a stockbroker?

A stockbroker has direct access to the market for trading shares, and acts as agent to buy and sell shares, for which a fee is charged. This presentation gives a detailed overview of the services offered by stockbrokers.

The language of trading

Information on the language and jargon used to describe the activity of the market.
