Observing and understanding the performance of shares around the company announcement and dividend paying periods has become the focus of many Australian retail and institutional investors in recent years. Understanding how shares are likely to move in their reporting seasons provides various trading opportunities for all types of investors.
This presentation focuses on share price behaviour and subsequent movements that arise from Australian and global company earnings announcements and why there may be anomalies and arbitrage opportunities that exist during these critical trading periods. Using sensible hedging techniques, investors will learn how profitable trading opportunities can be created around the announcement and subsequent company dividend paying dates with minimum risk exposure.
Hugh is a founding director of Aurora Funds Management Limited and has had over 22 years experience in the finance and investment banking industry, having previously held executive roles in share broking, margin lending, financial marketing and international futures markets.

Why do people find new ways to lose money when the old ways work just fine? Amazingly, average investors appear to only receive one third of the average return of the stockmarket when measured over 20 year periods. If the stockmarket is returning 11% per annum compounded over 20 year periods, how is it that the average investor receives less than 4%?
This seminar will outline what the top performing investors do in a low risk way, while also showing the mistakes the majority of investors make in the Australian Market. We will share with you low risk ways to invest when building your wealth. In the last 62 years there have been 13 Bear Markets or 1 every 5 years – we will outline how to deal with this when making investment decisions.
Simon Bedbrook is a Director of a Boutique Investment Advisory firm specialising in Investments and Strategic Planning for a select group of private clients. Simon purchased his first share at the age of 10 and has been investing ever since.
