Despite having come from an economics and accounting background Tom is strictly ‘technical’ in his own investing. To him all is revealed in price and volume and such analysis is not only clinical and objective but is within easy reach of the average investor in contrast to the mountains of macro and micro economic data that requires study.  Tom has used Elliott wave over the last 15 years to identify the big movers and when to get on board and when to get off. Tom will explain in simple terms how Elliott reliably identifies market patterns and how this can be combined with simple technical analysis.

Tom, a Commerce Graduate from Melb Uni started his corporate experience with BHP where he spent 10 years in International Marketing. This was followed by a number of CEO roles and eventually Non-Executive and Director Roles in a variety of industries including Construction, Finance and Technology. Many of his roles have been in business turnaround. He has been a full time investor for 20 years and as well as investing in seed capital projects he has traded USA and Australian Options as well as leveraged equities and Managed Funds. He is Director of Hubb, Chief Analyst of Shares Bulletin, Chief Editor of Trading Tutors and author of ‘Fair Share’ and ‘Surfing the Market Waves’.

The bear market is evidently upon us and for those who have only begun investing in the last twenty years, the severity of the declines would be unfamiliar. With Perpetual Trustees down 50%, ASX Limited down 50%, Cochlear down 45%, Cabcharge down 45%, NAB down 40%, Woolworths down 33%, Reece down 30%, AMP down 40% and Babcock and Brown down 82% it may be tempting to jump in.  Bull markets are born on pessimism, grow on scepticism, mature on optimism and die on euphoria.

The time of maximum pessimism is the best time to buy - but which companies should you buy and is now the precise moment?  There are some pretty simple guidelines to follow and Roger Montgomery will show you what to do, while presenting the current list of companies trading below intrinsic value.

Roger will also identify the companies to avoid.

Roger Montgomery is Chairman of listed investment company Clime Capital (ASX:CAM) and Managing Director of Clime Asset Management (ASX:CIW)
