Listed Investment Companies Revisited
Listed Investment Companies or LICs are an investment class that has been listed on ASX for a considerable period – some for around 70 years. Sometimes considered as ‘a listed equivalent to managed funds’, LICs have significant differences that need to be understood and considered when determining if an appropriate investment. One such issue is that LICs provide an after tax return to investors paid as a dividend (often fully franked) which when compared with returns from investments quoted as pre tax, can mask the performance of an LIC.
