The ASX, in conjunction with the Australasian Investor Relations Association (AIRA), held a series of free education forums, entitled Investor Relations Hot Spots, in 2012. They were half-day training sessions addressing the particular needs of listed companies outside the S&P/ASX 200 that require an understanding of investor relations tools and techniques in the listed environment.

The forums were run by AIRA and co-hosted and sponsored by ASX throughout Australia. All ASX-listed companies outside the S&P/ASX 200 had the opportunity to send a representative to one forum free of charge.

All the courses for 2012 have been completed. Dates for 2013 will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.

ASX Small to Mid Cap Conferences, Asia
22 May, Ritz Carlton Hotel, Singapore
24 May, Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Hong Kong

Our thanks go to all who took part in the ASX Small to Mid Cap Conferences in Singapore and Hong Kong. There was a good turnout for both cities, with at least 316 delegates overall attending. Delegates heard first-hand the investment opportunities presented by a selection of emerging Australian companies and found out more about the attractiveness of the Australian equity market overall.

In addition to giving presentations, our ASX-listed companies met many key investors during an intensive one-on-one meetings program – 200 meetings were held over both days of the conference.

August 2012

Diggers & Dealers, Kalgoorlie

ASX once again exhibited at the Diggers & Dealers conference, which combines presentations by listed mining and exploration companies with a large exhibition area housing exhibitors from the mining, exploration and service sectors.

ASX’s Stocks and Steaks lunch continued to be a great success and more than 50 people attended. Topics of discussion included the upcoming ARC 2012 conference and A Guide to Listing with ASX.

The conference delegation was made up of mining and exploration companies, brokers, bankers, investors, financiers and mining services industries. A 70-strong media contingent ensured the proceedings were widely reported.

Africa Down Under, Perth

For the second year running, ASX has established a presence at the Africa Down Under conference held at the Pan Pacific Perth and Novotel Perth Langley. The positive, changing face of the African continent is continuing to attract the lion’s share of global exploration dollars as prospectors zoom in on its untold mineral riches. Countries previously considered no-go areas have attracted a new wave of international investors, explorers and miners wanting to have another look. Striking examples are Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mozambique.

As well as the companies giving presentations, the event was attended by several nations’ mines ministers, business leaders and executives from the mining services industries.
