Revision of JORC Code - ASX Listing Rule Amendments

The proposed listing rule amendments relating to the revision of the JORC Code were released for public consultation in an Exposure Draft dated 2 June 2004. The rule amendments have now been approved and will take effect together with the revised JORC Code incorporated as Appendix 5A of the Listing Rules on 17 December 2004. 

The revised rules will be made available on the ASX Website and on ASX Online in the week commencing 13 December. Hard copy updates for insertion into the Listing Rules will be mailed to subscribers shortly.

Review Waivers Granted on ASX Online

ASX has recently introduced a new, free service on ASX Online - Companies which allows users to review Listing Rule and Market Rule waivers. This new service will allow greater transparency for listed companies and provide guidance on reasons why waivers were granted.

Search of ASX Waivers Registry - Listed companies can now search ASX's database of waivers granted since 1 January 04. This function allows users to search by ASX Listing Rule (or Market Rules for Warrant Issuers), ASX Code, and by period. For example, to undertake a search on a particular rule, simply enter the rule number followed by an asterisk. Select the period of the search and then click on 'Search Waivers'. A list of all waivers granted for that rule during the selected period will appear.

To access this new service, simply logon to ASX Online - Companies, and then select 'Search ASX Waivers Registry' in the drop down menu under 'Listing Rules'. 

ASX Waivers Registry - This service has been expanded to provide a monthly list of Listing Rule waivers granted over the past 12 months. It also will provide access to Market Rule waivers granted to Warrant Issuers each month, starting October 2004.

New Welcome page - The 'Welcome' page has been redesigned to provide users with access to past editions of 'Companies Updates' and 'CHESS Bulletins'. 'Companies Updates' going back to 2002 are now available.

Important information for ASX Listed Companies

Tuesday 28 December 2004 (Christmas Day / Boxing Day Holiday) 

ASX listed companies are advised that the NSW and Victorian State Governments have proclaimed Tuesday 28 December 2004 as a public holiday. Accordingly ASX has declared Tuesday, 28 December 2004 as a Non-Trading and Non-Business day. 

This means that over the Christmas and New Year period ASX will be closed for trading, clearing and settlement purposes on the following days:

• Monday, 27 December 2004
• Tuesday, 28 December 2004
• Monday, 3 January 2005

ASX Listed companies are advised that the full list of ASX non-business days and non-trading days for 2004 and the 2004 Company Announcement Reporting Calendar incorrectly shows Tuesday, 28 December 2004 as a trading day and a settlement day. This is because that day had not been proclaimed as a public holiday at the time the list was prepared.

The 2005 Trading Calendar is now available to view on www.asx.com.au.  The 2005 Company Announcement Reporting Calendar is also now available to view on ASX Online.

ASX Company's Announcement Office wishes to advise that it will close at 4.30PM AEDST (Sydney time) on the following days.

• Friday, 24 December 2004
• Friday, 31 December 2004 

Announcements received after 4.30pm AEDST on these dates will not be processed until the following business day. Listed companies are requested to allow sufficient time for ASX staff to receive and process announcements prior to 4.30pm AEDST.
