Important information for ASX Listed Entities

Reporting deadline for 31 December balance date entities lodging Half Yearly Reports for period ended 30 June 2006

In June 2005, ASX introduced transitional listing rules (4.2BA, 4.3BA and 4.4BA) to extend the reporting deadline for the Half Yearly and Preliminary Final reports in which Australian equivalents to International Financial Reporting Standards (AIFRS) are adopted for the first time. Under these transitional listing rules, the deadline for the first Half Yearly and Preliminary Final Report for the period in which AIFRS was adopted is 75 days after the period end. This extension of time was available only to Australian incorporated entities required under the Corporations Act to report in accordance with AIFRS. 

Once an entity has lodged the first Half Yearly and Preliminary Final Report in which it has adopted AIFRS, the deadline for lodging the reports reverts to the usual 2 months after the period end, under listing rules 4.2B and 4.3B.

The first group of entities to revert to the 2 month deadline are entities with a 31 December balance date, and which were required to adopt AIFRS for their Half Yearly Report for the period ended 30 June 2005, and for their full year ended 31 December 2005.

For entities with a balance date of 31 December, the Half Yearly Report for the period ended 30 June 2006 must be lodged by 31 August 2006. (This does not apply to Mining Exploration Entities, for which the reporting deadline under listing rule 4.2B has always been 75 days after the period end)

Entities with a balance date of 30 June, and whose first full year in respect of which they are required to adopt AIFRS is the year ended 30 June 2006, have until 13 September 2006 to lodge their Preliminary Final Report for that year. For their Half Yearly Report for the period ending 31 December 2006, the deadline will revert to 2 months after the period end, and the due date will be 28 February 2007. (Again, this does not apply to Mining Exploration Entities, which are not required to lodge Preliminary Final Reports at all, and which have 75 days after the period end to lodge their Half Yearly Reports)
