ASX is proposing to list Western Australia wheat futures and options on Monday 25 May 2009. This proposed listing date remains subject to regulatory clearance and will be confirmed once regulatory clearance has been approved and relevant agreements have been finalised. The ASX code for the proposed new contract offering will be WAW. Initial margins are currently being reviewed for the existing ASX Grain Futures contracts and are likely to change before the proposed listing date, however, it is expected that the initial margin for WAW will be similar to that applied for existing Australian Milling Wheat (AWM) contracts.

To coincide with the proposed listing of the Western Australia wheat futures and options contracts in late May, ASX has scheduled a series of education workshops across the country from May to August. Industry participants interested in attending these workshops are encouraged to register as soon as possible to ensure a place. This is your opportunity to learn more about how ASX Grain Futures and Options can be used by your business to manage risk. |

As has been detailed in the attached proposed contract specification for Western Australia wheat, it is proposed that the trading hours for ASX Grain Futures and Options be changed in conjunction with the listing of the new contract offering. ASX intends to implement the new trading hours on Monday 25 May 2009. This will be confirmed when the listing date for WAW is confirmed. It is envisaged that the proposed new trading hours will maximise on-screen trading activity as well as service industry participants throughout Australia and Asia.
