Welcome to the latest edition of the Grain Futures Update. ASX sends this newsletter each month to keep you informed about news and events that may be of interest to you.

New look and feel for www.asx.com.au/grainfutures The grain futures and options section of the ASX website has been reorganised to improve navigation. There are several new features that you may find beneficial. Individual icons have been developed for high traffic areas such as the daily activity report and the stock holding report while the 'events' and 'what's new' section in the top right hand corner will keep you up to date with what is going on in the market.

Western Australia Wheat Futures and Options (PDF 82KB) The proposed listing date for Western Australia Wheat (WAW) Futures and Options is yet to be determined. ASX remains committed to listing Western Australia Wheat Futures and Options and will confirm a listing date once all necessary agreements are in place. The proposed contract specification can now be found via the 'contract specifications' icon on the grain futures homepage.

Market performance (PDF 128KB) The average daily volume registered for May and June is currently 835 contracts or 16,700 tonnes of Australian grain. This is slightly higher than the daily average achieved during the record volume year 2006/2007. This report can now be accessed via the 'market update' icon on the grain futures homepage.

Underlying Commodity update (PDF 25KB) On June 10, ASX issued Market Notice 005 (PDF 25KB) concerning Underlying Commodities as registered in the ASX Market Rules. The updated wording reflects industry changes concerning applicable trading and receival standards that underpin the minimum specification for the deliverable contracts. For example, the Underlying Commodity for ASX Canola is CS01. This notice can be found via the 'market notices' icon on the grain futures homepage.

Proposed new trading hours The introduction of the proposed new trading hours will be confirmed when the listing date for WAW is confirmed. It is envisaged that the proposed new trading hours will maximise on-screen trading activity as well as service industry participants throughout Australia and Asia. This and associated trading information can now be easily accessed via the 'trading info' icon on the grain futures homepage.

Charts The ASX website contains both historical and dynamic charts. The historical charts provided are for past, existing and future 'new crop' contracts such as January Milling Wheat (PDF 164KB). The dynamic charts are available for all open futures contracts. Charts can now be easily accessed via the 'charts' icon located on the grain futures homepage.

Daily activity report ASX provides a daily activity report which details the market activity for the preceeding trading day. If you would like to be added to the list that receives this report via email each morning and benefit from the price transparency and market information, please contact ASX. This report can now be easily accessed via the 'market update' icon on the grain futures homepage.

Find a broker There are a number of brokers servicing the ASX Grain Futures market. If you are interested to know more about how you can become involved, view the broker contact list. If the world of derivatives and hedging is new to you, you may find the services of a risk management adviser particularly useful. View the list of ASIC licensed risk management advisers. The contact details for brokers and risk management advisers can now be easily accessed via the 'find a broker' icon on the grain futures homepage.
