The new Western Australia Wheat (WAW) Futures contract has performed well since listing on 14 September 2009. In its first three months, WAW has traded in excess of 640,000 tonnes and has Open Interest of 480,000 tonnes. Record volume for the month of November and an all time record has already been achieved in December with more than 1.4 million tonnes traded (PDF 125KB) thus far over these two months.

Coinciding with the listing of WAW, the minimum size threshold for Special trades was increased and trading hours were revised. The market analysis (PDF 118KB) shows 'on-screen' market activity has increased since the changes were introduced.
As outlined in the September email update, a new delivery fee is being applied for all deliveries. The new delivery fee of $10 per contract per side ($0.50 per tonne) plus GST, incorporates title transfer fees. The Australian Clearing House reserves the right to charge for title transfer fees associated with lodgements that do not eventuate in deliveries.
