New CHESS Fee Schedule effective 1 July 2006

The CHESS pricing structure will be changing from 1 July 2006.  These changes, originally announced in December 2005, will result in a simpler pricing model for all CHESS users.

The objective of the changes is to combine or eliminate existing charges wherever possible.  This has resulted in an overall reduction in the number of CHESS fees from 109 to 54.  Of these fees, only 14 relate directly to Listed Entities using CHESS services.

Standard charges are also being introduced for similar or related CHESS services.  From 1 July 2006, the standard CHESS message charge for Listed Entities will be $0.22 (GST inclusive).  The price of CHESS Holding Statements remains unchanged at $1.10 (GST inclusive) per statement.

The annual CHESS operating charge also remains unchanged at 5% of the annual ASX listing fee plus GST.

These changes are part of a wider review of all ASX prices designed to provide market participants with a simple and transparent pricing structure.  This in turn will lead to greater cost certainty.

The descriptions used on CHESS invoices have also been simplified to provide greater clarity surrounding service descriptions.

A full list of the revised CHESS fees relating to Listed Entities was enclosed with the May 2006 CHESS invoice.
