ASX investor relations initiatives

ASX believes that investor relations is an important consideration for all listed companies, which is why ASX is looking into new initiatives.

Effective communication and interaction between investors and listed companies not only assists in building the profile of the company (hence improving trading liquidity, access to capital and market valuation) but it also reinforces the integrity and efficiency of Australia’s market. This is something which has been particularly important throughout the GFC and which will remain important in every market environment going forward.

In recognition of the importance of investor relations, and in addition to the range of investor forums the ASX currently host, ASX is also committed to building its retail and professional investor educational activities and expanding its investor relations services. The primary objective is to enhance the ASX offering to listed companies, in terms of products and services that support the core service of capital raising and price discovery.

Some of the broader initiatives that ASX hopes to introduce are detailed below:

ASX Investor Relations Educational Activities
ASX enjoys a close working relationship with the Australasian Investor Relations Association (AIRA), having supported a number of AIRA investor relations courses targeted towards small to mid cap companies.

ASX plans to invest resources and work with AIRA again in 2010 to offer a number of investor relations educational activities to enhance the ASX offering to listed companies. The details of the educational courses will be announced shortly and will be designed to encourage participation by all listed companies, regardless of size, industry or sector.

ASX Investor Relations Products and Services
ASX is considering a number of additional investor relations products and services, including video and desktop packages, to enhance listed companies’ investor relations capabilities.

The aim is to deliver investor relations tools that listed companies can utilise to increase their profile in the investment community, and to identify, track, manage and communicate with their shareholders in an effective and efficient way.

Further information about these and other ASX investor relations initiatives will be made available in due course and will be formally announced to the market when appropriate.
