ASX Small to Mid Caps in Hong Kong - accessing international investment
ASX recently held its second international Hong Kong Small to Mid Caps Investor conference. The fifth in the global series, the conference attracted a record turnout with almost 170 institutional investors in attendance on the day combined with the most successful one-on-one meeting program ever hosted by the ASX.
In addition to the CEO presentations in the Ballroom overlooking Hong Kong harbour, ASX ran an intensive one-on-one meeting program, with all companies generating between 7 and 15 meetings per company per day, resulting in 180 meetings in total.
This year’s conference featured pre-conference audio interviews hosted on the ASX website followed by the videoing of the presentations on the day. Jointly hosted by The Australian website, these videos and the pre-conference audios have received more than 20,000 hits to date. The video recordings can be viewed on www.asx.com.au/smalltomidcaps/hongkong
A selection of comments from some of the attendees are highlighted below:

We are now in the planning phase of our 2010 offshore program, starting with our New York and London conferences. Participation from companies across a number of sectors are being confirmed and early indications of interest from North American and UK investors has been extremely positive.
If you represent a company with a market capitalisation between A$350 million and $2 billion and are interested in participating in the New York or London conferences in 2010, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
Throughout the week of the ASX Small to Mid Caps road show, ASX also ran a series of seminars in Hong Kong and China held in conjunction with Gilbert and Tobin, Minter Ellison and PricewaterhouseCoopers, to promote ASX listing opportunities to companies in the China region.
Initial Public Offering Seminars in Hong Kong and China
The seminars focused on the key features of the Australian market and the ongoing benefits of listing on the Australian market including access to liquidity, capital raising ability and a market with a worldwide reputation for reliability, integrity and efficiency.
It was clear from attendance at the events and the level of enquiry from participants that the sectoral diversity of the Australian market, with particular strength in the Resources sector offers appeal to companies across a wide spectrum of industry groups in the China region.
