ASX recent activities - September to December 2009

ASX is a regular facilitator and participant in industry conferences, listed company seminars, symposiums and investor conferences.

Capital Raising Seminars – Sydney, Melbourne and Perth

Over 2009, ASX held a number of Capital Raising seminars in the cities of Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. These seminars provided senior executives from listed companies with an overview of recent ECM activity on ASX and insights into a range of issues related to capital raising. Recent developments and innovation in capital raising have given rise to an increasingly complex array of choices when contemplating a capital raising and these seminars attempted to draw out relevant considerations required of the board when facing these choices.

Over 200 people from a range of listed companies attended these events and took away valuable information.

Further seminars on other capital market issues relevant to listed companies are being planned for 2010.

Australasian Life Science Investment Summit (ALSIS) – 27 October, Melbourne

The inaugural ALSIS on 27 October attracted national and international investors, comprising angel investors, venture capitalists, fund managers, investment bankers and representatives of super funds.

The presenting companies were a mix of listed companies in late-stage development, private companies with identified product/opportunities and early-stage commercialisation companies from research institutes and universities.

ASX supported the event, which was part of the larger annual AusBiotech National Conference.

Ernst and Young IPO Workshop – 12 November, Sydney

ASX participated in the Ernst and Young IPO Retreat on 12 November. The event featured presentations and interactive workshops to provide unlisted companies with information on the listing process, the preparations required for going public and the ongoing benefits and obligations associated with being listed.
