Outlook for Global Resources in 2006

Acquisition and private equity activity on the rise in 2006
Australia can expect to see even more acquisitions, divestments and mergers in 2006 than in 2005, according to Ernst & Young's Transaction Trends 2006 survey, released this month.
A healthy start to 2006
The Australian market has started off on a healthy note with the S&P/ASX 200 reaching all time highs of 4964.1 before closing at 4929.5 at the end of January. The market has continued to rise and as at 17th February is trading at 4889.
Proposed Record Dates and how they effect ASX derivative markets
ASX recently introduced changes to Listing Rule 3.20, requiring listed companies to immediately announce a proposed record date. The rationale behind this and how this can impact ASX derivative markets is explained.

  • Company orientation sessions

    ASX runs company orientation sessions for newly listed companies or new staff at existing listed companies. The seminar covers topics such as continuous disclosure and ongoing compliance issues, how announcements are released to the market, price queries and trading halts. Chief Financial Officers, Company Secretaries, Legal and Investor Relations staff and Company Directors are encouraged to attend. Registrations are essential.

    February Orientation Sessions are fully booked, with limited spaces available for Melbourne.
