Welcome to the Listed @ ASX newsletter. This newsletter is intended for Managing Directors, Company Secretaries, other senior managers and corporate advisers. Our last issue for the calendar year outlines a new Equity Research scheme to be introduced by ASX, designed to help companies achieve greater investor awareness. We take a look at an integrated IR marketing model and the resources sector which now accounts for almost a third of all trading on ASX. We wrap up with our quarterly market update. New ASX Equity Research Scheme - helping listed companies achieve greater investor awareness and increased liquidity Jobs, exports and earnings generated by Australian companies are key drivers of growth in our economy, and companies and Trusts listed on ASX are at the forefront of this growth. Resources sector - one third of ASX trading Recent figures released show that the resources sector now accounts for almost a third of all trading on ASX.
Market update - July to October 2006 The Australian domestic equity market capitalisation exceeded $1 trillion for the first time last year and is now over $1.2 trillion. The integrated IR marketing model With increasing pressure on management to drive performance an 'integrated' approach to the issue of marketing a listed company is critical. ASX Corporate Governance Council revised Corporate Governance Principles The ASX Corporate Governance Council ('Council') has released an exposure draft of proposals for revisions to the corporate governance Principles and Recommendations. ASX updates - August to November 2006 ASX is a regular participant in industry conferences, such as the recent resource industry, listed managed investment and investor conferences outlined below. Upcoming events Chartered Secretaries Australia National Conference CSA's annual National Conference will continue to explore key issues facing governance professionals. 2006 Annual AIRA Conference and Australasian Investor Relations Awards This conference will be recognising best practice investor relations across Australian and New Zealand listed companies. AMEC Retail Investor Seminar - Investing In Mining Stocks The focus of this seminar is on educating retail investors in the business of mining and exploration and understanding company announcements and company accounts. Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year National Awards The Australian Entrepreneur of the Year awards program, launched by Ernst & Young in 2001, is conducted in five regions culminating in the national awards.
