Other considerations

Additional considerations when placing an order may be:

  • The current market phase. Some investors prefer to buy or sell on open, others prefer to wait and see the direction of the market for the day and then place an order. Most private investors do not wish to trade late.
  • Current market prices. If the market has not yet opened and buy and sell prices are a considerable distance apart, an investor may decide not to place an order until the market has opened.
  • How recently the security floated.
  • The basis of quotation.
