The dangers of not benchmarking your results (MP3 15.2MB)
Kevin Bailey, Chairman of The Money Managers
Duration 1:04:53
An Australian Equities portfolio at the end of June should have returned in excess of 33% over the last year and in excess of 27% per annum over the last 3 years by using a three factor benchmark approach. The average super fund over the ten years to June 06 only achieved 7.9% before tax compared to the benchmark of 11.2%. Benchmarking can improve your returns; reduce your risk and increase security and peace of mind. Serious investors benchmark their portfolio to enable assessment of the risks and return characteristics. Comparative data enables to determine the portfolio performance and whether the risks taken were properly rewarded. Hence benchmarking can improve investment returns and reduce risk.
