There are many different types of strategies that investors can implement to achieve diversification, capital growth, income, protection and leverage. To assist in understanding how ASX listed products can add value to one's investment portfolio, ASX has undertaken portfolio studies which take a look at a number of different strategies.

 

Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs)

Interest Rate Securities

IRS portfolio study
Interest Rate Securities allow investors to potentially receive a steady and defined income stream as well as potentially reducing the risk of their overall portfolio.

 

 

Investment Warrants

Instalments in SMSF
Instalments provide SMSFs a means of maximising their exposure given the contribution cap within super as well as creating an enhanced earnings shelter to off-set other income earned by the fund.

Instalments - Dividend Yield Play
This strategy involves participating in multiple dividends by using the same amount of capital and rolling that initial captial between companies based on the payment dates of their dividends.

Instalments - Diversification
The diversification using instalments portfolio study uses the cash extraction strategy to compare the return of a portfolio of shares compared to a portfolio of instalment warrants. This strategy is not eligible to be used within an SMSF.
