Supervision subsidiary - ASX Markets Supervision
On 1 July 2006 ASX placed its operational supervisory functions in a separate subsidiary called ASX Markets Supervision. ASX Markets Supervision is a subsidiary of ASX Limited. The subsidiary was created to provide greater transparency and accountability of ASX's supervisory operations, strengthen market integrity and address the perception of conflict between ASX’s regulatory and commercial functions. ASX Markets Supervision comprises the four core elements of supervision, Issuers, Participants, Futures Supervision and Prudential Risk and Enforcement, along with the Disciplinary Tribunal.
The head of ASX Markets Supervision is the Chief Supervisory Officer (CSO) (currently Eric Mayne) who makes all operational supervisory decisions. The CSO does not report to the CEO of ASX but reports to the Board of ASX Markets Supervision.
