Council representatives

The ASX Corporate Governance Council brings together 21 groups, including ASX, from disparate business backgrounds, each representing the varying aims and priorities of their constituencies. Each Council member offers valuable guidance and information specific to their constituencies and industry. Click on the links below to access each of the websites of other Council members.

Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia Limited (ASFA)
The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia is the "Voice of Super" in Australia.  Reflecting all elements of the superannuation industry, ASFA's membership currently includes 180 funds (corporate, industry, public sector, retail) and 140 service providers to the sector.  ASFA also has a representative role for Self Managed Superannuation Funds given the involvement of ASFA members in providing services to such funds and ASFA's wide coverage of superannuation related issues.  ASFA member funds in aggregate represent over 80% of Australians with superannuation and the bulk of the over $1 trillion in superannuation assets.

Australasian Investor Relations Association (AIRA)
AIRA was formed with the object of advancing the awareness of and best practice in investor relations in Australasia and thereby improving the relationship between listed entities and the investment community.

Australian Council of Superannuation Investors (ACSI)
ACSI is a not-for-profit organisation which provides independent research and education services to superannuation funds in relation to the corporate governance practises of companies in which they invest.

Australian Financial Markets Association (AFMA) (formerly International Banks and Securities Association of Australia)
AFMA represents more than 120 participants in Australia’s wholesale banking and financial markets. They include all Australian banks, global banks and securities companies operating in Australia, State Treasury Corporations, specialist financial markets traders and national electricity market participants. AFMA’s key roles are to represent the interests of members on public policy and market regulation issues and to ensure responsible self-management of Australia’s over-the-counter (OTC) markets. AFMA merged with the former International Banks and Securities Association on 1 January 2006 and the Australian Financial Operations Association in December 2007.

Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD)
With more than 16,500 members and with offices in each State, Australian Institute of Company Directors is Australia's pre-eminent professional organisation for company directors providing education, information and advocacy.

Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST)
AIST is a national not-for-profit organisation run by trustees and fund staff for representative trustee run funds. by trustees for trustees.  AIST is committed to providing the services and support that trustees need to meet the challenges of managing superannuation funds and advancing the interests of their fund members.

Australian Shareholders' Association (ASA)
The ASA has a proud record of protecting and advancing the interests of all investors. ASA vigilance and persistence in matters such as related party transactions, the disclosure of remuneration and executive option scheme performance hurdles have contributed to significant improvements in the corporate governance of Australian companies.

Business Council of Australia (BCA)
The Business Council of Australia is an association of CEOs of 100 of Australia's leading corporations, which together have a combined national workforce of almost one million people.  The BCA was established in 1983 to provide a forum for Australian business leadership to contribute directly to public policy debates in order to build a strong economy, a more prosperous society and ensure Australia remains the best place in which to live, to learn, to work and do business.

Chartered Secretaries Australia (CSA)
Chartered Secretaries Australia is the peak professional body delivering accredited education and the most practical and authoritative training and information on governance, as well as thought leadership in the field.

CPA Australia Ltd
CPA Australia is Australia's premier professional organisation of Certified Practising Accountants.

Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA) (formerly the Securities Institute of Australia) 
Finsia is the only professional association representing the entire spectrum of financial services throughout Australia and New Zealand, reaching almost 20,000 professionals.
Finsia plays a vital role in protecting the industry’s strength and competitiveness through high quality professional development programs and career support services, an extensive range of industry-leading information resources and publications, and through its advocacy and policy-setting initiatives.

Group of 100 (G100)
The Group of 100 (G100) is an organisation of chief financial officers from Australia's largest business enterprises with a purpose of advancing the nation's financial competitiveness.

Institute of Actuaries of Australia (IAAust)
The Institute of Actuaries of Australia (IAAust) represents the actuarial profession by creating, expanding and maintaining an environment where the skills of actuaries are widely used and valued.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA)
The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia was constituted by Royal Charter in 1928.  The Chartered Accountant (CA) designation is recognised world-wide as a mark of excellence, inspiring respect and confidence. Not only are Chartered Accountants the elite of their profession, they maintain the highest professional and ethical standards.

Institute of Internal Auditors - Australia (IIA-Australia)
IIA - Australia provides internal auditing practitioners, executive management, boards or directors and audit committees with standards, guidance and information on internal auditing best practices.

Investment and Financial Services Association (IFSA)
IFSA is a national not-for-profit organisation which represents the retail and wholesale funds management, superannuation and life insurance industries. IFSA has over 140 members who are responsible for investing over $1 trillion on behalf of more than ten million Australians.  Members' compliance with IFSA Standards and Guidance Notes ensures the promotion of industry best practice.

Law Council of Australia
The Law Council of Australia advises governments, courts and other federal agencies on ways in which the law and the justice system can be improved for the benefit of the community.

Property Council of Australia
The Property Council of Australia is the leading advocate for the Australian property industry.  It has a long history of achieving reform and of enhancing the business conditions for its members.

National Institute of Accountants (NIA)
The National Institute of Accountants (NIA) is a professional organisation for accountants recognised for their practical, hands-on skills and a broad understanding of the total business environment.

Securities & Derivatives Industry Association (SDIA)
The Securities & Derivatives Industry Association (SDIA) is the peak industry body representing institutional and retail stockbroking firms and investment banks in Australasia.  The SDIA strives to promote the high standards, skills and knowledge of securities & derivatives professionals.
