ASTC Settlement Rules
ASX Settlement and Transfer Corporation Pty Limited (“ASTC”) is the settlement processing facility for ASX's market and provides all settlement and asset registration services. It is the holder of an Australian CS facility licence under the Corporations Act.
ASTC's operating rules are known as the ASTC Settlement Rules. To protect the integrity of its market, ASTC has standards for the behaviour of Settlement participants through its Settlement Rules. ASX Compliance Services section makes day-to-day decisions about the application of the ASTC Settlement Rules. Guidance notes are also published to assist participants and their advisers to understand how certain Settlement Rules and procedures operate.
The Settlement Rules are not just binding contractually. They are enforceable against participants under the Corporations Act. The Settlement Rules create obligations that are additional, and complementary, to common law obligations and statutory obligations.
