20:20 Investor Series, Sydney

ASX continues to support investor focused events for the resource sector

The successful Resourceful Event’s 20:20 Investor Series provides mining and exploration companies the opportunity to engage with investors in a series of events over the year. 

Since the beginning of 2008, ASX has partnered with Resourceful Events in presenting 10 of these events, each focusing on a particular commodity theme. The last event, ‘Gold day’ on 25 February, featured six listed gold producers and explorers and attracted an audience of 165 people. These events interest a diverse investor audience including fund managers, brokers, buy and sell-side analysts, and high net worth individuals. 

ASX has committed to supporting further events this year. Details of these events can be found on the Resourceful Events website.

ASX at Australia Week - G’Day USA – 23 January, New York

A Room with a View and The Financial Services Luncheon

A Room with a View was a new ASX initiative as part of the Australia Week program which saw top rated Australian analysts present to an audience of approximately 120 US institutional investors and the Australian Equity desks of the key ASX Brokers in the region. Following this session, attendees joined ASX and our brokers for the prestigious Financial Services Luncheon where the audience of 350 had the opportunity to quiz the Hon Wayne Swan MP who joined a panel of Australia’s financial and business leaders following his keynote address.

Whilst the Australian Financial Services market was experiencing great publicity through the New York arm of the program, the best of Australian culture and tourism was receiving similar promotion around the US.

ASX at PDAC – 1-4 March, Toronto

ASX exhibited at the annual Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) International Convention, Trade Show and Investors Exchange in Toronto in early March. The event is the largest mining investment convention in the world and pulls in a crowd in excess of 18,000 investor and mining industry delegates from around the world.

Reflecting the importance of the ASX Mining sector in the context of the global mining equity capital market there was also strong representation of Australian listed mining and exploration companies at the event.

The event provided a valuable opportunity for ASX to demonstrate support for Australian listed mining companies by promoting the value and benefits of investment in the ASX mining sector to a global investor audience.

AMEC / ASX Broker Briefing – 12 March, Sydney

The Association of Mining and Exploration Companies and ASX got together to present Mincor Resources NL, Shaw River Resources, Crescent Gold Ltd and Galaxy Resources Ltd to an audience of brokers and institutional investors. This briefing provided up to date information on projects and activities for improved investment evaluation. This new initiative was well-received and provided a strong foundation for replicating these briefings in other capital cities throughout the year.

Excellence in Oil and Gas – 6-7 April, Sydney

ASX sponsored the Excellence in Oil and Gas conference, now in its fourth year, which profiles the oil and gas industry to the investment community. The event included over 25 presentations from junior to mid-cap companies and keynotes on the global recession, China’s strategy and the oil and gas investment outlook.

The two-day conference also included an industry exhibition, ‘Legends in Oil and Gas Awards’ and Gala Dinner.
