Successful Investor Relations Strategies for SMEs - free course

New educational course to assist small and medium-sized companies attract and maintain interest from investors and analysts.

To assist small and medium-sized companies attract and maintain the interest of investors and analysts, ASX, in conjunction with the Australasian Investor Relations Association (AIRA) is launching a new one-day education course entitled ‘Successful Investor Relations Strategies for SMEs’ in the major cities around Australia. 

About the course

The course is one day of intensive training that addresses the particular needs of listed companies outside the S&P/ASX 100. It is designed to provide delegates with a thorough understanding of the tools and techniques to establish a successful IR programme. It will principally target senior executives of SMEs who assume the responsibility for and/or need a practical understanding of investor relations principles and programmes.

Who can attend?

All ASX listed companies outside the S&P/ASX 100 will have the opportunity to send one representative to one course for FREE. Course numbers are restricted to 50 people per event and are being offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Currently, owing to strong demand, places are available in Adelaide and Brisbane only.

How is the course delivered?

The course will be run by AIRA and is being co-hosted and sponsored by ASX. It will feature presentations from some of Australia’s most experienced investor relations and capital market professionals. There will also be representatives from ASX, who will discuss the market structures, mechanisms and regulations in place to support investor relations and the core services of capital raising and price discovery.

The course is being delivered throughout Australia on the following dates:

  • Melbourne: 10 May 2010 – COURSE FULL. RESERVE LIST ONLY
  • Adelaide: 12 May 2010 – PLACES AVAILABLE
  • Perth: 14 May 2010 – COURSE FULL. RESERVE LIST ONLY
  • Sydney: 13 July 2010 – COURSE FULL. RESERVE LIST ONLY
  • Brisbane: 15 July 2010 – LIMITED PLACES AVAILABLE

Places in Adelaide and Brisbane are also open to those persons in other cities that are willing to travel on the applicable dates and wish to attend the course.

Other ASX IR education initiatives

In conjunction with AIRA, ASX is also co-hosting and sponsoring an investor relations round-table event for listed companies in the S&P/ASX 100. The event will be held in Melbourne and Sydney and is designed to give IR executives at some of Australia’s largest companies the opportunity to discuss recent IR trends and also current market topics which impact listed companies and their investors. Details and invitations for the event will be sent out shortly.

In addition, ASX has extended its support to AIRA’s Diploma of Investor Relations course in 2010. The Diploma Course was recently held in Sydney on 24 to 26 March and will be held in Melbourne on 13 to 15 October. On completion of the course and after passing an exam, participants are awarded with a Diploma of Investor Relations by AIRA and may use DipInvRel post-nominals.
