S&P and ASX announce Index review

On 18 May 2006, S&P and ASX announced several new index proposals, with full details provided in two new market consultation papers. We would particularly appreciate feedback from our listed companies, as these proposals have been designed to provide you with more flexibility, transparency and/or visibility. 2006 Entrepreneur Of The Year finalists announced

The 107 entrepreneurs competing for the title of Entrepreneur Of The Year 2006 in Australia's leading business awards program Entrepreneur Of The Year, have been announced.

Since the program started in Australia in 2001, some 417 leading Australian entrepreneurs have been recognized for their entrepreneurial spirit having been assessed by a leading panel of independent judges on their innovation, integrity, influence, strategic direction and national/global impact.

In previous years the program, the only one of its kind with an international platform, has recognized such leading Australian entrepreneurs as Peter Farrell of ResMed Limited, John Rothwell AO of Austal Limited, and David Bussau AM of Opportunity International, Robert Gerard AO of Gerard Corporation, and Tony D'Antonio and Peter Hosking of Global Machinery Company Worldwide.

The Australian share market reaches all time high

The market has achieved new record levels in recent months, driven by the performance of the resources sector and strong company profits. There have already been over 60 IPOs this year, with 74% of these companies trading at or above their issue price on 16 May 2006. Read the full article.

Company orientation sessions
ASX runs company orientation sessions for newly listed companies or new staff at existing listed companies. The seminar covers topics such as continuous disclosure and ongoing compliance issues, how announcements are released to the market, price queries and trading halts. Chief Financial Officers, Company Secretaries, Legal and Investor Relations staff and Company Directors are encouraged to attend. Registrations are essential.
