Ivan Colhoun is Chief Economist, Markets for National Australia Bank. He joined NAB in November 2014 and is responsible for the Australian Economics function within the Global Markets Research team. Ivan has had a long and varied career in Economics. He received a Bachelor of Economics with Honours from the University of Tasmania and commenced his career at the Reserve Bank of Australia.

He spent 15 years at Deutsche Bank before following his passion for aviation by joining Qantas as Chief Economist. Most recently, Ivan was Chief Economist for Australia for ANZ Bank. He has also consulted to SEEK, Virgin Australia and IATA and is a member of Tourism Australia’s Tourism Forecasting Committee.

As well as being the Equities Strategist at Bell Direct, Julia Lee is also the Head Media Presenter providing financial commentary to SKY News, SKY Business Channel, Bloomberg, ABC radio and on the internet.

She has over 17 years of experience in financial markets and you can see her hosting 'Equity Investor' on the SKY Business Channel. She is also a regular contributor to industry publications and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences.

Steve Mater is the Head of Investment Sales within CommSec's Retail business. CommSec is Australia’s leading online retail trading platform, offering customers a variety of products and services such as Australian & International Equities Trading, Derivatives, Margin Lending, and Advisory services.
Steve leads a team of Business Development Managers and Associates aimed at identifying and servicing customer needs for all of CBA Group wide channels.

Steve has worked in financial markets for over 28 years with extensive experience in sales, business development, marketing and leadership roles across numerous markets including Foreign Exchange, Futures, CFDs, Options and Equities, his most memorable time working on trading floor of the Sydney Futures Exchange. Steve is an avid trader and investor, is passionate about the industry and markets and is dedicated to helping others create wealth through online education and enhanced relationships build on trust and service.

Steve holds a bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University, a marketing degree and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance.

Emma is the Key Account Manager for Magellan’s Listed Funds. Prior to Magellan, Emma worked in wealth management at ANZ, focusing on advice remediation and governance programs. Emma was also a member of the leadership team at Asgard Wealth Solutions and BT Financial Group where she was responsible for licensee growth initiatives and diversifying revenue streams. She commenced her career in financial services in 1995 and has held business development and advice specialist roles at AMP Financial Services.

Emma holds a Bachelor of Business (Banking and Finance) from the QUT, a Diploma of Financial Services from Deakin University and a Green Belt certification in Lean Six Sigma from the Australian Graduate School of Management.

Conor O'Daly

Conor has been with Pinnacle for approximately 5 years engaging with investors on behalf of Pinnacle’s specialist investment managers. His role encompasses capital markets activities including LICs, ETMFs and MFunds, from product structuring through to implementation and distribution.

Prior to Pinnacle, Conor was based in London with BNP Paribas in Fund and Equity Derivatives and began his career with Man Investments on their Graduate Quantitative Programme.

As Head of Asset Manager Sales for iShares in Australia, Mrs. Petering leads Blackrock's distribution efforts in the broadly defined asset manager segment in Australia and New Zealand, delivering best in class, competitive index solutions to our regional clients including traditional asset managers, insurers, banks and pension funds across all asset classes, partnering with our broader client businesses.

Mrs. Petering joined BlackRock in June 2017. Prior to joining BlackRock she worked at Goldman Sachs for 12 years, as a senior leader in the Pension Sales team working with large Australian superannuation funds on solutions in retirement annuities, longevity risk, defined benefit immunisation, equity and commodity hedging, liquidity, inflation, factor investing, hedge funds, and cross asset derivatives. Prior to this, Mrs. Petering established and ran the Private Investor Product Group, a pioneering role in which she led the firms structuring and distribution of bespoke thematic investment solutions, equity derivatives, fund derivatives and structured products for Private Banks, Family Offices and Platforms in Australia. Mrs. Petering began her career at Merrill Lynch, during which time she worked in the equity capital markets division in Hong Kong, originating solutions for corporate clients across Asia Pacific including swaps, hybrids and convertible bonds; and earlier was integral in establishing the warrants and protected equity lending business for retail investors, based in Sydney.

Mrs. Petering holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from the University of Technology, Sydney.

Presenter Bio

Gemma Dale is a Director, SMSF and Investor Behaviour at nabtrade. She is a recognised expert in SMSF and superannuation topics, and regularly discusses investment trends and investor behaviour in the media, including Sky Business, the Australian Financial Review and The Australian. Prior to her current role Gemma was Head of SMSF Solutions at nab, and Head of Technical Services at MLC, where she managed a team of specialists in superannuation, tax, social security and financial advice. She holds a Bachelor of Business with Honours, a Bachelor of Economics, and a Bachelor of Arts and an Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning.


Ian Irvine

Ian has over 40 years’ experience in sales, marketing and business development and has worked in the financial services arena since 1986, with stints at Westpac, AMP and up until the end of December 2017, for 14 years at ASX.

His role at ASX included developing and delivering educational sessions for investors, self-managed super fund trustees and financial advisers; delivered using a variety of media, including seminars, webinars, videos and written articles published in financial newsletters and magazines.

He now works as a consultant to the financial services sector; including to continue to educate investors on a range of investment ideas and topics.

He holds a B. Com (UNSW) and has been a members and trustee of a self-managed super funds since 1996
