Why ASX has partnered with the UNGCNA and CA ANZ to deliver sustainability reporting education

ASX recognises the importance of ESG and sustainability in transforming the investment landscape for listed companies. The introduction by the Australian Government of a formal sustainability reporting regime will require a large population of listed companies to uplift their sustainability and reporting awareness and capabilities. With its place at the centre of financial markets in Australia, ASX sees value in supporting both the listed companies and investor community through equipping companies to make quality disclosures which facilitate good decision-making by the companies themselves, investors, and the broader stakeholder community.

About the UN Global Compact Network Australia

As a special initiative of the UN Secretary-General, the United Nations (UN) Global Compact is a call to companies everywhere to align their operations and strategies with ten universal principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and to take action in support of UN goals. With more than 20,000 companies covering 73 countries, the UN Global Compact is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.

Locally, the UN Global Compact Network Australia (UNGCNA) brings together over 350 Australian participants including over 65 ASX-listed companies, the majority of the ASX 20 and over 300 SMEs, large corporations, non-profits and universities.
