Economic Update

Geopolitical tensions continue to dictate the movement of the markets. The war with Iran has lead to unprecedented volatility in oil prices, leading to fears of energy-driven inflation and decreased investor confidence. Back home, economists predict a rising interest rate environment for the year to come, with expectations on inflation to rise above the global standard. Hear from Anthony Doyle, Chief Investment Strategist at Pinnacle, who will talk on what investors need to look out for and give tips on how to navigate the market in 2026.

Investor behaviour through your life-cycle

No matter where you are in life, it's important to manage your investments with your current situation and your future goals in mind. As you grow older, you need to reevaluate your appetite for risk in your portfolio to ensure that your ideal life for retirement is on track. Our speaker from Vanguard will reveal findings from research on how Australians' investment behaviour can change through their lifecycle, before sitting down with nabtrade and Morgans for an insightful panel to deliberate over the trends they have seen and the pitfalls that some investors can fall into.

Gold, Silver, and the Revival of ‘Hard’ Assets

Global markets are entering a new era defined by deglobalisation, rising geopolitical tension and mounting government debt burdens. In this environment, gold and silver are re-emerging as strategic assets. Strong central bank buying, growing de-dollarisation trends and persistent inflation uncertainty are reinforcing the role of precious metals.

Positioning for What’s Next: The multi-asset playbook for a volatile 2026

Market conditions in 2026 are being shaped by a number of crosscurrents including diverging interest-rate expectations, uneven global growth, and now an energy supply shock stemming from escalating geopolitical instability. With dispersion higher and correlations less reliable, achieving consistent outperformance increasingly depends on an asset-allocation framework that is clearly anchored, yet flexible enough to respond quickly as regimes change.  In this presentation, Sebastian Mullins, Head of Multi-Asset and Fixed Income Investing at Schroders Australia, will outline the key market scenarios that could emerge from here, the portfolio approaches that may be most effective in each, and the opportunities he currently sees across asset classes.

The most concentrated market in the world deserves the most intelligent allocation

The S&P/ASX 200 is one of the most concentrated developed-market indices on the planet. It is structurally overweight financials and resources, and structurally underweight technology, healthcare innovation and global growth. That concentration is both the risk and the opportunity. If you own the index, you own the concentration.

Dynamics such as Your Future Your Super forcing large super funds to become the world's most expensive index trackers is herding billions into the same names. Herding creates dislocations. When everyone is forced to own the same thing, the things they are forced to ignore get mispriced. We will show investors, using the simple and the complex, to not just stand out from the herd, but to become hunters too.

Why tech investing is different to banks and miners

For many investors, banks and miners represent familiar territory. Their performance is typically driven by factors such as interest rates, credit cycles, and commodity prices. Technology investing, however, operates under a very different set of rules. Rather than relying on physical assets or balance sheet expansion, technology companies grow through innovation, scalability, and the ability to reach global markets quickly. Many of the world’s most valuable companies today are built on software, data, and network effects rather than traditional capital-intensive models. Join ETF Shares who will help you understand how these businesses operate and what drives their growth and how that helps investors better navigate one of the most powerful and enduring long-term trends shaping global markets today.
