ASX Sharemarket Game

If you don’t have an ASX Investor Portal account you will need to create one before registering for the Game. 

1. Go to the ASX home page and click on the login button.
2. Select JOIN NOW at the bottom of the drop-down menu.  
3. Then follow the steps to set up the account.
4. You will need access to your email address to verify the account details.

Once your account is set up:  

1. Login to the ASX Investor Portal.
   
2. Click on the ASX Sharemarket Game link on the main banner, or click on your initials and select ASX Sharemarket Game from the drop-down menu.
3. Complete the Game registration form.

Trouble-shooting tips

If you are not able to set up an ASX Investor Portal account or receive error messages, please contact the ASX Investor Support team for help. 

If you have set up an account and cannot access the Game, please try using a different up to date browser such as Chrome. 

• You must be aged 18 years or older to participate.

• There is a limit of ONE Game entry per person in the Game. Any person who registers more than one (1) entry in the Game will be in breach of the Game Rules and may be ineligible for a prize.
  

• If you are employed by an organisation that trades, advises on, or manages financial products trading on a financial market, you’re welcome to participate in the Sharemarket Game – but you won’t be eligible for prizes.

• To be eligible for the University Individual prize, university participants must register using a valid university email address and must be registered as a student for the duration of the Game.

• Participants acknowledge and agree that, during the Game, ASX may publish on the Game Website and/or share on social channels, details of selected participants of the Game (for example, the most improved portfolio or final winners) including the participant's User Name, geographic location, Game portfolio and transactions.

• You must purchase shares in at least four different companies over the Game period.

• Once purchased, a security must be held for a minimum of one full trading day before it may be sold.

• A participant cannot place an order for shares in one particular company which would result in the value of the participant's total holding in that company comprising 25% or more of the participant's total portfolio value (diversification rule).

• Brokerage will be charged against the trade value on each purchase or sale of stock in the Game at the rate of AUD$15.00 for each trade for orders valued up to and including AUD$15,000.00. For each trade over AUD$15,000.00, brokerage at the rate of 0.1% of the trade value will be charged.

• Dividends will be paid on the date when the shares go 'ex-dividend'. To receive the dividend a participant must already have holdings in those shares at the close of trade the day before the ex-date.

• The Game is limited in its functionality and is not set up to emulate every market condition so when some corporate actions occur in the ASX Market the only way to handle it in the Game is by processing a compulsory buy back at the last sale price for that stock.

• Participants may set up their own league within the Game. The participant that sets up a league becomes the administrator (‘Administrator’) of that league. The administrator needs to be a member of the league and an active participant. 
  

• Each participant can only be in 5 leagues and can only set up a maximum of 5 leagues.
  
  
• To be eligible for prizes at least 60% of the league's members must have been active during the Game (must have purchased shares in at least four different companies over the Game period).
